I kinda feel lied too

There were these signs all over 50 and 66 all week telling me that there would be massive construction and major delays this morning. I needed to take an alternate route because this construction was so huge that 66 would be undrivable. So i left early instead, since I have no idea how to get to work on a different route other then the metro. I wanted to leave myself some extra time in case of delays, but I got to work 20 mins early and hit 0 traffic. It was almost a let down.

Bonus!

A Couple of Games

Last night I went out to Huzzah and got in 2 games against Chris. He is one of the new guys who joined the game thanks to i believe Bill's prodding.

Game 1: 25 stones, Pandora vs Nicodem
This game went about as I expected. He chose body guard and my strategy was to kill Pandora. I did everything I could to nickle and dime that bitch down, but she just wouldn't die. I dropped her down to I believe 2 life, but Candy Ran in and saved the day with a nice heal flip. I killed Candy for her trouble, but the game ended with Pandora alive and me losing 4-2. I also had a body guard, but he managed to get his second scheme of kill my highest stone model.

Game 2: 25 Stones Kirai vs Perdita
I wanted to try out a Gaki spam, so I took some of them along with some Seishin and Datsue-Ba. I went nutso with Kirai this game. All the little strategies and tricks she has have been slowly clicking for me, and this game was pretty bad for chris. Papa and Fransico both move up and make some attacks. I send Datsue-Ba and a summoned Onryo into them. I manage to kill Francisco, who was my grudge match foe, and the I swapped Datsue out for a Gaki. The other two ran in there and the bunch of them went nuts on Papa eventually killing him, and a gaki, and an onryo, and wounding the other 2 Gaki. Forgot the Should have lived since papa would leave a corpse for me to eat and so would Fansico, but meh that would have been even worse. I then super summon Ikiryo into melee with Santiago and Nino. Santiago is made short work of. Nino books it, and Perdita kills off my Gaki. Then Datsue-Ba goes to work, followed by Ikiryo on Perdita, I end up killed her off and we call it there. It was a pretty nasty game. Im looking forward to my next go with Kirai now.

Onryo

As promised here are the Onryo!

And lastly I finally finished painting a box set of models. My others all need 1-2 models to be painted to be fully finished. I'm quite a lazy ass in that regards. But here is Kirai and her Spiris of ass kickery.

A bit of this and that.

So this weekend I took some time and worked on my Onryo, I was not happy with their colors so they took a while. They ended up looking great once I finished them, but I forgot to take a pic so they will be up tomorrow.

Saturday I played in a Game of Thrones Rp game. Its using the D20 system, which is similar to 3.5 D&D but not the same. The systems is odd and there is a lot I don't get about how to play it, but the first session was ok and I'll go back to give it another whirl.

Also Ellen and I watched the second disk of Warehouse 13. Im a huge fan of this show and I fully recomend it, its got a little sci-fi feel to it, while having a cool historical twist. Pretty fun show.

Ok this is the big thing I wanted to talk about, Ellen and I went out to movies for the first time in a while last night. We saw, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and I gotta say I pretty much loved that movie. It drew a lot of its inspirations from early nintendo video games; sound effects, music, and even some of the visual effects. The whole thing just had a great video game feel to it. All in all it was a really fun movie and one that I want to add to my collection when its released on Blue-Ray or DVD.

Ikiryo

She's done. I wasn't super pleased with him last night as I was putting on the finishing touches. But as I was trying to get a good photo, which took a long ass time, I kept getting either bad glare, or the flash would pop on unexpectedly. Anyway, as I was trying to focus the camera right I got a really good look at the detail. I personally love the mask. Its plain white, no wash, dry brush, or anything. I was going for the perfect Porcelain mask. No emotion or decoration, just the plain white, the Onryo will have the same mask as well. Her hair is my largest issue, I have no idea what the studio team did to make the hair look the way they did, but after the second layer of wash dried I was pretty happy with how it turned out. So here she is in all her glory.

Even more Rising Power Models

So im just gonna throw this out there, Gen Con rocks! I'm a little bumed I wont get to go next year, but Im thinking Hawaii will be even better, but still I love going to Gen Con, and this year was awesome. My main point here is I think I'm still on that gamer high that Gen Con gives me every time I go, and since recently I've been painting a lot more, I think that gamer high has me painting. I started working on Datsue-Ba after Tuesday night gaming. I came home couldn't sleep right away so I went to work on the old hag. She was coming along great and I threw on her first wash coat. I was looking her over waiting for it to dry when I saw it was 12:15. I packed her up and went to bed a little disapointed. But yesterday after work I pulled her back out and hit her with the finishing touches, which was mostly dry brushing and there was a second coat of ink in a few key places. So here is Datsue-Ba the unique spirit that I doubt Kirai will ever leave home with out.

Seishin Painted!

Last night I took a couple hours and got all 5 of the Seishin painted up. Each one has is a different color, since there are 5 I wanted some more variety then dragon or lion head.

Next up is either the Onryo, Datsue-Ba, or some Gaki

Rising Powers: Resserectionists

So after getting a chance to really look through the book I wanted to throw up a little blurb about the Ressers, for those who were unable to get to Gen Con.

Kirai Ankoku - Over the past couple days I've been rather taken by the depressing little geisha. Outside of her story her play-style is totally unique and a very difficult puzzle to solve. Her abilites are all very powerful, but her summoning causes her damage. She has ways to heal hearself, but it can be a huge pain in the ass to keep her standing. Im still trying to figure out what are her optimal strategies, but I feel like i'm getting close, Summon a lot of spirits, keep her healed, and use the Seishin for support as well as to keep her safe. Biggest draw back I see for Kirai is her cast is only a 6.

Spirit of Lost love - Kirai's totem, its basically there for one reason, when Kirai dies, the Spirit dies instead, she goes to 4 wounds, and is a spirit for the rest of the game. Nice little insurance policy for a squishy master. He can also heal spirits, but needs an 8+ of rams to cast it.

Ikiryo - This is Kirai's uber spirit, and literally her spirit. She can rip it out of her to go kill things. Its a power-house with good melee as well as a decent range attack and support for spirits. Its biggest weakness is that its easy to kill it, and when it dies Kirai has to drop 2 cards. He is the lynch pin if this army, im just not sure how yet.

Sieshin - The little spirits that follow Kirai around. They are cheap, and since she needs to sac a spirit to summon most other spirits, they are a good option. They can also take hits for Kirai if in base with her. And they can boost the cb of your spirits. Great little support guys and good for keeping Kirai alive.

Datsue-Ba - This is Kirai's number 2. Like Moritmer for Nicodem, or Candy for Pandora. Datsue-Ba is a hard hitting, powerhouse (she can attack wither def or wp and ignores armor) she can turn the tide in a game. She can turn models she kills into spirits, which is really damn good. In my one game with her so far, I hung her out there and she died. I think saving her as a second wave hitter would be wise for my future games.

Onryo - The mid-level spirits. These are mini Datsue-Ba, they can't make new spirits, but they have the same attack either wp or def, and they also ignore armor. And when they die they make a wp-wp duel with any model in 6 inches, if that model loses the duel its slow for the rest of the game.

Gaki - These are low level spirits. They are damn fast, tough to kill, and hit decently. For only 3 points they are a steal. In a swarm they can trigger on a melee attack to make another Gaki attack. And they can eat dead models to heal back to full. all in all they are pretty amazing for only 3 points. I already own 4

Shikome - The elite spirit. They are expensive and Kirai takes 3 damage to summon them. They are designed to kill a specific model, like blood-trackers in hordes. They are pretty nasty in melee and very fast. I haven't used them yet, but I can see their merits. They can also fly over things.

Thats all the spirts, the next stuff is tech for the older masters.

Molly Squiddlepidge - She is our henchmen. She is a very support based character and can be pretty solid in my opinon. Im not sure if she will be worth the 10 points she costs to take with a master, but running her own crew could work. When she is in charge she can take Belles, and Horrors. Hopefully in book 3 there will be more horrors, they are very limited at the moment.

Necrotic Machine - A generic totem, but mostly designed for molly. Not really sure what its main uses are, it can turn enemy models undead.

Dead Rider - Holy Crap this guy is cool. For 10 points he is acutally worth every stone. 3inch reach, 10 inch charge, and a ton of special abilites all based on how many wounds he has. And he has a spell that can heal or hurt him so you can get him to the set of abilites you want him to have. He is a total badass.

Guild Autopsy - They have a gun, which is really nice. Down side, they cna never leave corpse or body tokens and they are easy to wound. At a very cheap 3 stones, they are not a huge investment, and their guns get a +flip for damage. They can also force some nice moral duels. Need to test them some to see how good they really are, no corpse tokens sounds crappy.

Night Terror - These are spirits.. holy crap, i missed that. They are odd, since they are nightmare spirits they won't leave corpse tokens, and their attacks are cb 3 dmg 1/2/3, but they are pretty quick... not really sure how i feel about them, they might be best with the dreamer since they can hit WP and neverborn like to attack wp. Their spell hurts range attacks, so that is good at least.

Rogue Necromancy - Another big boy hitting 10 soul stones. This guys is a badass. Nico and McMourning can summon the big lug, which might be a tad broken. He has paired cb 7 claws, and poisoned cb 5 teeth. He is two headed so as long as he has 5+ hp he gets 2 free melee attacks. He is quick, at a 5/9 and has a spell that does aoe damage. all in all this guy and the dead rider give the ressers some much needed heavy hitters. Now we can match power with executioners, mature nephlim, and steam-borg abominations.

Gen Con - The Report 2.0

Friday:
Ellen and I woke up a little later and headed to the convention center. We tested out Adventureers, a new AEG board game. Its basically The first ten minutes of Raiders of the Lost Ark; the board game. It was a blast, and it was up to 6 players. I was pretty set to pick it up, when Ellen asked the dude if there were other maps, he said not yet, but possibly in the future. We realized that every game would have the same map, traps, and treasure locations. It would get really lame after 3-5 games, so we passed on it. We walked around and found some great Cthulhu booths and bought new dice for Arkham, 6 with the yellow sign, 6 with cthulhu on them. Next Ellen and I tried the Game of Thrones Card game. It took a round or two, but it all came back to me. I was the Baratheons and she was the Targareons. Things were very close until she dropped an infinite combo that reduced my claim to 0 every turn. It was pretty broken. We met up with Ryan after he washed out of his Magic Vintage tourney, he got spooked at the last minute and instead of playing the deck he had been testing switched a deck he thought would work better against the meta, he was very wrong. We went to Mikado and got sushi for dinner. It was expensive and very slow service, but the food was top shelf amazing. We then went back to the convention center and played board games. The most memorable were Ticket to Ride, Havanah, and Small World. Ticket to Ride is actually more fun then eating glass. We had a lot of fun, and Ellen ended up crushing us. Havanah SUCKED! hard, it was really bad. Small World was great, Ellen Carson and I were doing really well early and thus kicking the crap out of each other. Ryan had a really slow start, and then started putting out decent, not huge, turns. He ended up winning by about 10 points. Ellen and I took off after that game and went back to the room to hit the hot tub in our hotel, it was nice.

Saturday:
Same deal, we went in played an S. Load of board games, except this time we bought a couple. Ellen bought Dominion and I got Chaos in the Old World. We tested Wing of War, fun little game, and pressure matrix. Pressure Matrix is anothe AEG game. It was ok, but mostly because the Demo Guy was a little crazy and made the game more fun. It ended rather abruptly and we all just kinda wandered away confused. Also Ryan won. We played another game, i can't remember, it wasn't anything special, but Ryan won that one too. All weekend Carson had been talking up this game called Shadow Hunters. We finally saw it, but there was no demo. Ellen started haggling with the dude at the booth and he agreed that if we hated the Game we could bring it back for a refund. He also threw in a free T-Shirt and Bag. Ellen ended up buting it. We hit this random Mexican place for dinner, that was kinda odd. Food was ok though. We got back to the convetion hall and played Chaos in the Old world first. I was Khorne, Ellen was Slannesh, Carson was Nurgle, and Ryan got Tzeentch. Ellen was kicking our asses really bad. Cards kept preventing me from killing everyone as I should, so I was completely hosed. In a last turn show of heroics, Ryan pulled a huge victory out and passed Ellen for the win. We then played Shadow Hunters, and Finally Ryan lost after winning 5 straight games. We played 4-5 times and learned that it, like Bang needs more than 4 people to be really good. Still we enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to teaching everyone to play. We played until 1am and went back to pass out. Josh was hammered when he came home and was pretty hilarious.

Sunday:
I woke up to find out Ryan got some. He was passed out on the floor with a girl. We all got dressed and Josh started grilling the girl. It was pretty funny. We go down for breakfast and she shows up dressed as Tifa from FF7, I look at her badge and say hey thats pretty funny your name is Tiffany and your dressed as Tifa. She goes yeah, but my name is Tif-nay. Ellen immediately burst out laughing. I was able to hold myself for a moment by sipping my empty cup of coke. Tif-Nay left to answer her phone, I looked at Josh, and the other other Ryan (there were 3) and went Tif-Nay? needless to say we all lost it laughing.

We hit the convention hall and Ellen and I tested Hell Dorado. Fun game, but Malifaux is better organized, more popular and likely to exist next year. Too Bad, could have been a decent game. Also after finishing the book 2 fluff, Malifaux officially has the best story line of any game... GO READ IT! We stayed for the Malifaux raffle drawing and got a steak&shake Milk Shake with my brother before he hit the road. Eventually we grabbed Rockett and hit the road ourselves. It was a damn awesome trip, I am 50/50 on wishing I had played in a Malifaux tourney, but mainly I just want to know how good I am compared to the rest of the country. Still one of the best Gen Con's ever!

Gen Con - The Report!

Wednesday:
We drove... a lot. We stopped in Columbus, and Rocketts dad was kind enough to buy us all lunch. We went to Thurmans, which I would say is a must stop of your ever in Columbus. Fantastic Burgers! We had a few beers at Alcatraz once we got into the city, but it was mostly an unremarkable day.

Thursday:
Ellen, Chris Slazinski, My brother, and I all bum rushed to Wyrd's booth. It was pretty packed and they were running out of stuff fast, they had to keep a guy running to the back room to restock the new stuff. But we got everything we wanted and began moseying around the Convention Hall. I picked up the new Scorpion Starter for L5R. We demoed Chaos in the Old World, and even got into an Arkham demo, we pretended not to have any idea what we were doing, mean while ellen and I laughed as the Demo lady got a bunch of crap wrong, putting clues on an open gates, etc.

We had lunch at Johnny Rocketts, which was like a C, not great, but we were no longer hungry. Carson, my brothers old magic friend had driven all night from VA to get into Indy around 7am. It was after lunch that he woke up and joined us. We played Dominion, and a few other board games. Eventually Ellen and I parted with my brother to go to true dungeon. It was a boat load of Fun. Rockett and Josh scrubed out of the L5R tourney and met us for the dungeon. Chris joined us as a last minute addition since Ryan had 5 tickets. We got owned pretty bad, since we were doing the Nightmare level. The GM's felt bad since it was most our groups 1st or second time doing a true dungeon and didn't kill us, until we fought the main dragon, against whom we were properly destroyed.

After that we ate dinner at Steak and Shake. Ellen, Ryan, Carson, and I went back to play more board games until it got pretty late and we returned home.

I'll post the rest of the weekend tomorrow, I have a lot of work to do today.

Sonnia Criid

Rockett's Sonnia Criid is finished.

Not much else to say, still trying to fully recover from saturday night.
